Church of Virgin Mary of Czestochowa - Polonezkoy

One of the important symbols of Polonezköy is the Church of Our Lady of Czestochova. It is located in a beautiful garden on the right at the entrance of the village. In 1842, the first religious building built in Polonezköy was known as St. Anna Church. This church was destroyed after the Istanbul earthquake. Then it was rebuilt as the Church of Our Lady of Czestochova in 1914 and opened for worship. The church was also used as a headquarters by the Turkish Army during the First World War.

When we look at the history of the church, we see that the first small church here, called the Temple of Holy Anna, was built in 1845-1846 by the Bosnian Monks of Saint François.
